Bishops Square- London 1
Bishops Square - London 2
Bishops Square - London 3

The 17-year regeneration of the Old Spitalfields Market, located to the east of London’s Liverpool Street station, has reached its final phase with the completion of ‘Bishops Square’, a construction of retail and commercial facilities.  The entire scheme has been developed by the Spitalfields Development Group and Corporation of London.

A central courtyard and roof terrace gardens have been created to offer a place for relaxation away from the bustling, unrelenting pace of London’s ‘Financial’ district.  The roof top gardens on levels 6, 8 & 10 benefit from breathtaking views across the city skyline.

Waterscapes were employed to provide automatic landscape irrigation systems to all grass areas, tree, hedge and shrub planting in the courtyard and roof terrace gardens.

Water application is controlled by planting type and area demarcation, allowing accurate and efficient watering of the landscape.

Turf areas use both pop-up spray heads and sprinklers depending upon the area of coverage required.  Shrub and hedge planting is watered using arrangements of pressure compensating drip emitter tubing with factory installed emitters at a preset distance along the tube length.

Trees are irrigated using pressure compensating individual ‘plug-in’ emitters mounted within a necklace of flexible pipe around each tree.

The courtyard and each roof terrace are totally separate systems, each with their own digital control system allowing unique and varied programmes to be facilitated for each area of planting.

Each system features a rain sensor to prevent unnecessary watering and a scale prevention unit to minimise the impact of calcification on the lateral irrigation equipment.
